A Promise in Spring

We got married young — not out of passion or a whirlwind romance, but through family ties. Our fathers were close, and I guess they thought this was the right path for both of us. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Honestly, I figured it’d be awkward at first, maybe even distant.

Then, on our first night together, Satsuki told me something I didn’t see coming. A truth that had been weighing on his heart since the start. He thought I’d turn away. I didn’t.

I saw how much it meant to him — how much he'd tried to be honest, to do right by both our families and by me. And the more we talked, the more I realized... he’d never once treated this like a game. Somewhere along the way, he truly fell for me.

I didn’t know what love was supposed to look like, but the moment I saw him cry in the dark, apologizing for who he was, I knew I couldn’t let him go.

So, yeah — it’s not the marriage either of us expected. But maybe that’s what makes it ours.
